AIDS/HIV in Botswana

Hier mal einige etwas andere Fakten über Botswana und die aktuelle Situation.
Auf Englisch, aber sonst wäre es ja auch zu einfach...

Botswana has been hard hit by AIDS. In 2009 there were an estimated 300,000 adults living 
with HIV - ¼ of the population 15 and older.

The country has an estimated adult HIV prevalence among 15-49 year olds of 24.8%, the second highest in the world after Swaziland.

Life expectancy at birth fell from 65 years in 1990-1995 to less than 40 years in 2000-2005, a figure about 28 years lower than it would have been without AIDS.

Worldwide, it is estimated that more than 16 million children under 18 have been orphaned by AIDS. Around 14.8 million of these children live in sub-Saharan Africa.
16% of children in Zimbabwe and 12% in Botswana and Swaziland, are orphaned due to AIDS.
